It is with a heavy heart I report to you that my father-in-law and your shipmate BT2 James Arthur Williams passed away from natural causes on April 20, 2014. PO Williams was assigned to USS INTREPID (CVA-11) circa 1960-63. From the day we met, Jim recalled with enthusiasm his navy days and spoke with pride of his association with INTREPID. PO Williams was buried in his home town of Sandy Creek NY, with military honors. His large family and numerous friends were present to bid farewell and following seas. I have initiated a profile page in his memory on togetherweserved.com. Please log his name as appropriate in INTREPID crewmember's records. V/R, Gregory J. Bak CTI1(SS) USN/Ret

Looking for buddy who remembers loading "agent orange" onto aircraft or going in-country for recreation regarding an SH3-E4 named Robert Shipley (barber) around '68-'69 in blue water off So. Vietnam. [Have 1 reply from Frank Gessel, much thanks.] I am attorney for widow trying to get DIC, former Army/Vietnam 1970 AnKhe Pass. Thanks, much.

I recently found links to much more current information and history about Intrepid and its Former Crewmembers, including search engine to find shipmates, obituaries, etc. Also much information about military benefits in general.

Kid, Sid, Dan & Lance, I also remember the day that Richie Urban went over the side when struck with the A4. I was on the signal bridge with Rick Munday(I think) when we heard the commotion and ran through to the port side of the island just as the crash and smash guys got to the pilot. A sad day indeed.

Last month, we lost my uncle and your shipmate, Parker G. Buzzell. He was 89 years old. As his son and I looked through his things, we found a piece of the Japanese plane that struck the ship. It has a part of the Rising Sun still on it.
